Exceedingly rare first edition of important German Masonic periodical issued in Hamburg under the auspices of the Provinzial-Loge von Niedersachsen, one of the most influential Masonic groups in northern Germany. Edited by the Hamburg Freemasons Johann Carl Horstmann and Carl Straus the work was conceived as a scholarly forum for the study of Freemasonry, publishing historical investigations, philosophical reflections on Masonic symbolism and ethics an documentary material relating to the organization and activities of German lodges.
