Kjøbenhavn (i.e. Copenhagen), 1862.
Small 8vo. Six parts bound in three contemporary, uniform, balck half calf bindings with gilt lettering and numbering to spines. Spines with wear. Occasional brownspotting.
The very scarce first edition of the first Danish translations of "Les Miserables", which amazingly appeared the same year that the original French edition was published, making it one of the earliest translations of this immortal classic, one of one of the greatest novels of the 19th century. The first English language translation also appeared in 1862, whereas the first German appeared in 1863.
