Rare first edition of Lüders early work on gardening and agriculture.

Lüders himself explicitly described his book as a kind of pedagogical experiment aimed at the peasants. In an attempt to make the content more digestible for them, the book was written in dialogue form as a long series of questions and answers about the cultivation of, among other things, flax, potatoes and clover.
Lüders’ hope was that the book would be distributed to the peasants and that through reading it, they would be convinced to abandon their 'misguided notions' and 'old preconceived opinions' and be encouraged to try out new cultivation methods.

Philipp Ernst Lüders (1702 - 1786) was a Protestant pastor in Munkbrarup and provost in the Glücksburg provostry, an educator, an agricultural reformer of the Enlightenment era and one of the first agricultural economists.
