Rare first edition of Neumann’s posthumously published defense of Lutheran orthodoxy, presented in a aphoristic format. A controversial anti-Pietist text it because his most popular and famous work.

Johann Georg Neumann (1661–1709) was a provost of the Castle Church and professor of theology in Wittenberg. Known for his intelligence and audacity, Neumann secured professorships in poetry (1690) and theology (1692).
