Rare first German translation of Adam’s ‘Lectures on natural and experimental philosophy’ arguably his most important and influential work covering a wide range of topics, including mechanics, optics, electricity, magnetism, and astronomy. George Adams was a prominent figure in the field of mathematical and scientific instrument making serving as the principal instrument maker during the mid-eighteenth century.. In 1756, he was appointed as the instrument maker to the Prince of Wales who would later become George III. He continued to hold this position when George ascended to the throne in 1760.
