4to. Three parts uniformly bound in two contemporary full calf bindings with five raised bands and richly gilt spines. Small paper-label pasted on to top of spines. A few wormholes to spines, boards with scratches with some loss of leather. Part of gilting on upper compartment of spine on vol. 1. worn off. Small wormtracts in inner lower margin of both volumes, not affecting text. Internally generally nice and clean. (4), 756, (8) pp.; 525, (11), 256, (2) pp. 


Rare first Danish translation of Buddeus's "Institutiones theologiae moralis" (1711) which in many aspects inaurated a new age of moral sensitivity among Lutherans of which Pietism became the most important theological tradition.

Johann Franz Buddeus (1667-1729) born in Pomerania, was professor of Greek and Latin, moral philosophy and theology at Leipzig and Halle.
