First appearance of these papers in which Deming exposed his techniques of increasing production processes based on Shewart's methods of quality control. A number of Japanese manufacturers applied his techniques widely and experienced heretofore unheard-of levels of quality and productivity. The improved quality combined with the lowered cost created new international demand for Japanese products.
"In 1950, W. Edwards Deming, at the request of the Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers, give a series of lectures in Japan on Shewhart’s statistical quality control of industrial processes. These lectures were the catalyst that gave birth to Japan’s industrial efficiency and emphasis on highest attainable quality of manufactured products." (DSB).
