First appearance of Humboldt's importent investigation of the snow-line in the Himalayas. He found, that the snow-line on the northern side of the Himalaya is much higher than below the equator, and that there is a connection between the lowest line of the permanent snow, the oscillations of the snowl-line and the lowest line of snowfall.
