Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy is an important technique for the determination of structures in material science and structural biology. For liquid-state NMR the only DNP mechanism currently known is the Overhauser Effect. For solid-state a variety of different DNP-mechanisms can be used such as the thermal-mixing, cross-effect or the solid-effect.
