A most interesting sammelband containing a rare collection documenting one of the liveliest literary and theological controversies of the Danish Enlightenment. Beginning with the appearance of “Den Danske Spectator”, being one of the earliest magazines published in Danish language, and continuing through a succession of replies, counter-replies and polemical pamphlets, the collection documents the development of a public debate on religion, morality and education in mid-eighteenth-century Denmark.
