Original typewritten letter (225 x 195 mm), 2 page, 39 lines. Signed "Din / Tanne" (i.e. "Your / Tanne"). Horisontal fold, otherwise fine and clean. 1 ff. 

A most interesting two-page typed letter from Danish author Karen Blixen addressed to a unknown woman named Thyra (but most likely a family member). Having learned of Thyra's condition from another woman named Karen, Blixen writes simply to let her know that she has been constantly in her thoughts. She wishes she could be sitting beside her bed and hopes the letter can be read to her gradually if she is too weak.
Blixen reflects on the strength of family ties. Although relatives may grow up in very different circumstances they remain connected by shared memories and origins.
Quoting Wordsworth's phrase "man's unconquerable mind" Blixen says that Thyra has always possessed this quality.
