First printing of this milestone paper in organic chemistry which marks a very importent step toward a complete structural theory of organic chemistry, THE SUBSTITUTION THEORY.

"In 1834 Dumas presented a long paper, "Recherches de Chimie organique", to the Academy of Sciences in Paris. In this he described chloroform and chloral and explained the mechanism by which chlorine acted upon ethyl alcohol.
