Beautiful collection of 22 coloured woodblock prints by Qi Baishi depicting flowers and animals, including chicks quarrelling over a worm, a sparrow perched on a barren branch, two frogs, two Chinese mitten crabs, wisteria, chrysanthemums and wine cups, mushrooms, loquats, pear blossoms, a dragonfly resting on a lotus seedpod, peach blossoms symbolizing spring and much more.

Qi Baishi was born in 1864 in Xiangtan, Hunan Provinc and died in Beijing in 1957. He began painting at the age of fourteen but only achieved widespread fame after undertaking a journey through the celebrated landscapes of China in 1904 and moving to Beijing in 1917. In 1953 he was appointed the first president of the Chinese Artists’ Association and elected to the National People’s Congress. In 1955 he was awarded the International Peace Prize of the World Peace Council for the year 1950.
