With the royal monogram of king Chrstian VII on red background on upper cover. Stamps on title-page. (2),141,(3) pp., 5 folded tables, 12 folded engraved plates with many figs. A small wormtract on bottom of the first leaves and at end.

Scarce second edition of the manual. "The first edition.... published 1755 is very scarce, only twelwe copies are supposed to have been issued. The 1757 edition contains a large section dealing with Chinese fireworks as described by Pierre d'Incarville. Many of the figures that appear on the plates of this edition are very similar to those that were issued in the original "Essai" (Perrinet d'Orval 1745)."(Chris Philip p. 115). - Chris Philip, P060.4.
