Rare first edition of one of the most infamous documents of National Socialist propaganda aimed at children. Widely condemned for its content and intent, this book represents a grotesque distortion of children’s literature, using colourful illustrations and simplistic language to convey deeply antisemitic ideology. As Hürlimann writes, it is "Das grauenhafteste Dokument, das menschlicher Sadismus je in Bilderbuchform hervorgebracht hat." (Hurlimann 140). (i.e. English: “the most horrifying document that human sadism has ever produced in picture-book form”)

Published by Stürmer-Verlag, this was the first of three children’s books produced under Julius Streicher’s direction - each aimed at spreading Nazi racial ideology among young readers. These books are among the most disturbing examples of propaganda from the Third Reich: deliberately designed to appear innocent, yet filled with messages of hate and dehumanization.

Disguised as educational material, the book taught children the supposed “proper roles” of Aryans and Jews in Nazi Germany, planting the regime’s most harmful ideas in the minds of the young. Today it stands as a chilling reminder of how totalitarian regimes can use even children’s literature to spread their ideology.
