Exceedingly rare early edition of Hieron’s collected works. “Hieron, Samuel a clergyman of the Church of England, somewhat inclined to Puritanism, was born in 1572, was educated at King's College, Cambridge, and was presented to the living of Modbury, Devonshire, which he held till his death in 1617. He was very eloquent as well as pious. His sermons, in two volumes, were published in 1635.” (McClintock and Strong Biblical Cyclopedia). Hieron published several works, including ”The Preacher's Plea” (1604) and “A Helpe unto Devotion” (1616). His collected works were published posthumously in 1614 and expanded in 1624–5 and 1635.
