A rare sammelband containing six German “Ben Saddi” chronicles, beginning with the very rare first German translation of Robert Dodsley’s ”The Chronicle of the Kings of England” (London, 1740). Written under the pseudonym Nathan Ben Saddi the work recounts the history of the English monarchy from 1066 to 1603 in the style of the King James Version of the Pentateuch. It was both a literary satire and a commentary on monarchy and politics.
