First edition of this account of Danish King Christian III (1503-1559) regarded as being one of the most significant kings of Denmark in the early modern period. He converted to Lutheranism early on and defended it until his death. The internal affairs of the church were reorganized under royal supervision by the Wittenberg reformer Johannes Bugenhagen. 

Johannes Isacius Pontanus (1571-1639), also known as Johan Pontanus, was a Danish historian and geographer. He served as the official historiographer for Denmark starting in 1618.
