Uncommon first edition of this set containing various works by German theologian Baumgarten. Siegmund Jakob Baumgarten (1706–1757) was a prominent German Lutheran theologian and historian. He was a significant figure in the early development of modern historical theology and had a substantial impact on later theologians, including his more famous student, Johann Salomo Semler. Baumgarten studied theology at the University of Halle where he later became a professor. His work primarily focused on the integration of Enlightenment rationalism with Lutheran orthodoxy, aiming to reconcile faith and reason.
