The uncommon extensive first edition of Spener’s posthumously published sermons delivered in various German cities. Philipp Jakob Spener (1635-1705) was a prominent German Lutheran theologian, by many referred to as "Father of Pietism", known for founding the Pietism movement, which emphasized personal faith and piety over formal doctrinal orthodoxy.
