8vo. In contemporay full calf with four raised bands and blindtooled ornamentation to spine. Small paper-label pasted on to top of spine. Light wear to extremities, boards with a few holes and scratches with some loss of leather. First and last leaves brownspotted, but generally internally nice and clean. (12), 1084, (20) pp. + frontispiece and engraved half-title. 

Rare second edition of this political satire being one of Weise’s most widely read books. During the 1670s, Christian Weise authored several groundbreaking political and satirical novels. These novels sparked a trend for the German "political novel," which continued into the following decade.
