Later edition of Carpzof’s last major work in which he summarized his previous works on legal processes dealing with both civil and criminal law – it remained one of the most important and used textbook in the development of procedural law for decades.

Benedict Carpzov (1595–1666) was a German jurist and legal scholar. He was born in Wittenberg, Germany, into a family of legal scholars. Carpzov served as a professor of law at the University of Wittenberg and later at the University of Leipzig. Carpzov's contributions to legal scholarship earned him recognition as one of the leading jurists of his time.
