First edition, rarely found in such nice condition as here, of this monumental and beautifully illustrated work, often regarded as being one of the best documentations on the era of the Thirty Years’ War, that of Louis XIV and early modern Europe in general.
The work continued to be published by various authors and editors up till 1728 and ended with 21 volumes.
