8vo. In a very nice contemporary full calf Cambridge-style binding with four raised bands and richly gilt spine. Gilt frames to boards and blind-tooled ornamentation to edges of boards. Light wear to extremities with minor loss of leather to boards. Title-page in red and black. Small worm-tract to lower inner margin, far from affecting text. A fine and clean copy. (6), 613, (5) pp. + 3 folded table, wanting the frontispiece. 

Second edition of this biography of Catherine I, wife of Peter the Great, Empress of Russia from 1725 to 1727.
