8vo. In ccontemporary half cloth with gilt lettering to top of front board. Paper-label pasted on to lower part of spine. Two small paper-labels pasted on to lower part of front free end-paper. Two stamps to title-page. With author's presentation-inscription to the Danish Minister of War: "A' Son Excellence / Le Ministre de la Guerre / de C M Roi / Hommage de l'Auteur". Very light miscoloured to lower margin, otherwise a fine copy. 17 pp. + 1 folded plate.
Rare first edition of Salmoiraghi's work on Rangefinders (Télémétre). Angelo Salmoiraghi was a student of Ignaz Peter Paul Porro (1801-75) who in the 1860s in Turin opened the "Officina Filotecnica" (workshop and school of optics, instrument building and fine mechanics). Salmoiraghi bought his teacher's Milan-based "Società Filotechnica" and renamed it to "Filotecnica Salmoiraghi". The company still exists today under the name of "Salmoiraghi & Viganò".
