Rare first edition of this detailed history of the Massachusetts lodge from its foundation under the charter of 1797 (issued during the Grand Mastership of Paul Revere) to the late 19th century. The work includes an account of the Morgan episode (th disappearance of William Morgan, a former Freemason in Batavia, New York who threatened to expose Masonic secrets), and its impact on American Freemasonry and a general historical survey of the Craft in America. We have only been able to trace one copy in the trade (Auction in 1918, C. F. Libbie & Co., Boston, MA).
